Historical success at Selva di Gardena for the partnership Filippo Barazzuol-William Boffelli who after overtaking the couple Patrick Facchini – Philipp Goetsch, activated their turbo speed to re-write a new page on the most important night time ski-mountaineering race
2h56’59 will be the new time to beat in the coming editions.
Second place for the “local boys” Federico Nicolini – Federico Bacca (3h03’09”).
The podium is completed by Patrick Facchini – Philipp Goetsch (3h04’09”).

Female record too for the original duo made up by Laetitia Roux – Martina Valmassoi (3h32’37”).
At 6 pm, lit up by the lights of sun set, the 1300 participants of the 24th edition set off bang on time for the spectacular tour around the Sella group.
Light weight skis, head lamps and speedy skins for their perfect evening, 650 teams from 15 different countries were all lucky enough to personally experience this special evening. Just like a real marathon, 42 kilometres with over 2700 metres of vertical height gain which brought them to conquer the four Dolomite passes: Gardena, Campolongo, Pordoi and Sella, before cutting across the finish line at Selva to say that they made it.

The records to beat were the one from 2018 which belonged to the Swiss athletes Martin Anthamatten/Werner Marti (3h04’30’’) and to Alba De Silvestro with Jennifer Fiechter (3h37’58’’).
Leafing through the start list, it was difficult to predict a winner. In the male race, on paper there were many teams who could potentially win: Lanfranchi – Collé, Barazzuol – Boffelli, Facchini – Goetsch, Pasini – Antonioli and D’Haene –Sert just to mention a few.

Ready, steady go without any pre race tactics.
The best athletes dictated a fast pace right from the start.
After their second place in the Pierra Menta Filippo Barazzuol – William Boffelli went to the lead with the precise aim to carve their name out in the race’s hall of fame.
A gap which they increased throughout the race. Behind them there was a scuffle between the young local athletes from Trentino Nicolini –Bacca who engaged in a fight, neck and neck with Facchini – Goetsch.
There was also a great challenging race between the French men D’Haene –Sert and the Italians Lanfranchi – Collé.

The female race was unsure until the end, but the ladies also managed to break an umpteenth record.
The favourites Laetitia Roux – Martina Valmassoi crossed the finish line in in 3h32’37” controlling two uncomfortable rivals –Ghirardi – Balzarini from Brescia.
Overall third place for Margit – Gelpi.
